Grayling High School Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball finishes in 6th place at Boyne City Invite

The Grayling JV Volleyball team competed at the Boyne City Invite on Saturday, September 23. The team went 3-5 on the day finishing in 6th place overall out of 12 teams.

Playing in one of the toughest pools in the tournament, the girls went 3-3 overall to earn the final seed in the gold bracket. The Lady Vikes opened pool play against a very strong Kingsley team and lost both sets (13-25, 22-25). The girls would rebound very well and win their next three out of four games splitting with Elk Rapids (21-25, 25-18) and beating TC St. Francis (25-15, 25-22). After making it into the gold bracket, the Lady Vikes could not overtake a strong Gaylord squad and lost both games (16-25, 17-25) to end their day.

Stats for the Entire Day: Emma Mertes 7 aces and 3 kills, Kayleigh Paulus 7 aces and 1 kill, Jasmine Denton 6 aces, 2 kills, and 1 block, Jordyn Schwartz 2 aces, 2 kills, 1 assist, and 4 blocks, Isabel Duba 2 aces, 1 assist, and 4 kills, Hayley Hayes 1 ace, Jenna Schwartz 8 assists 1 kill, and 2 blocks, Kyah Birdsall 9 assists

The JV Volleyball team travels to Harbor Springs on Tuesday, September 26. The game starts at 5:30pm.
